Quantifying Total Phosphorus and Heavy Metals in Residential Septage

چکیده
Septic systems are used for wastewater treatment in rural areas. tanks promote stratification of into solid (sludge and scum) liquid layers. Pollutant concentrations the layers residential septic may be highly variable, thus septage pumped from with different layer thicknesses also variable. The goal this study was to quantify total phosphorus (TP) heavy metal masses septage. were measured 37 tanks. Samples collected each pollutant concentration analysis. median TP (10.6 mg L−1) greatest sludge layer, followed by scum (5.3 (1.8 Concentrations metals variable type. TP, cadmium, copper, lead, nickel, zinc contained (range) values 19.4 g (0.9–1041 g), <0.01 (<0.01–1.99 1.3 (0.1–520 1.8 (<0.01–44.2 (<0.01–4.3 13.8 (0.3–788 respectively. Since is typically applied on land as a soil amendment crop growth, it important that representative composite samples prevent excess buildup metals, which harm yields or environmental health.

متن کاملEcological risk assessment of heavy metals in landfill soil of Tehran and its adjacent residential area
Background and Objective: Landfills as municipal solid waste are considered as the source of pollution. The present study aimed to assess the ecological risk of heavy metals in Tehran landfill soil and the adjacent residential area. Materials and Methods: Having consulted with the specialists and considered the waste processing facilities, 12 sampling points were selected and sampled in four s...
متن کاملContent and binding forms of heavy metals, aluminium and phosphorus in bog iron ores from Poland.
Bog iron ores are widespread in Polish wetland soils used as meadows or pastures. They are suspected to contain high concentrations of heavy metals, which are precipitated together with Fe along a redox gradient. Therefore, soils with bog iron ore might be important sources for a heavy metal transfer from meadow plants into the food chain. However, this transfer depends on the different binding...
متن کاملCo-transport of dissolved organic matter and heavy metals in soils induced by excessive phosphorus applications.
To evaluate the effects of long-term applications of phosphorus fertilizers on mobility of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and heavy metals in agricultural soils, a sandy soil and a loamy soil were spiked with ammonium phosphate at application rates of 0, 25, 50, 100, 250, and 500 mg P per kilogram of soil. A series of 15-cm long soil columns were constructed by packing incubated soils of varyin...
